Investing in the future of maritime transport: a new electric crane modernizes the port terminal in Constanta
"We want to offer our partners fast, safe and environmentally friendly port services. The new electric crane brings us closer to this goal and prepares us for the challenges of future maritime transport," said the management of ROTRAC SA.

A major step towards efficiency and sustainability
By implementing this project, ROTRAC SA modernized its port terminal by purchasing a state-of-the-art electric crane, intended for ship loading and unloading operations.
This investment brings a series of concrete benefits:
• Tripled handling capacity: from 1,500 tons/24h to 5,000 tons/24h;
• Annual operable volume of up to 550,286 tons;
• Operation of ships up to 20,000 dwt, compared to the previous limit of 7,500 dwt;
• Zero CO₂ emissions, thanks to fully electric technology, compliant with Regulation (EU) 2016/1628;
• Improved working conditions and increased productivity, through ergonomic and automated equipment.
We are part of a sustainable European network
Through this investment, ROTRAC SA consolidates its position as a competitive and responsible port operator, contributing to the development of a modern, sustainable and resilient TEN-T network. The project, with a total value of 22,475,279.86 lei, benefited from a non-reimbursable financing of 6,136,581.69 lei from the Cohesion Fund (CF). The implementation took place between 28.11.2024 and 30.09.2025, in the Port of Constanta, South-East Region.
